How is this PIN code structured?
Every Indian PIN code is a 6-digit number. Each part identifies a progressively more specific location — from the broad postal zone down to the individual post office.
Postal Circle
Digits 1–2 (40) identify the postal circle. The first digit 4 places this code in Zone 4 — Western Region, covering Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Goa.
Sorting District
Digit 3 (0) identifies the sorting district — a cluster of revenue districts within the postal circle where mail is sorted before final delivery.
Delivery Post Office
Digits 4–6 (001) identify the specific delivery post office or locality within the sorting district. Values 001–999 are assigned to individual post offices.
